The LTS Marketplace – Bridging the Gap to Industry

There is a growing gap between education and industry where the outcomes of the former do not meet the hiring needs of the latter. Industry needs people who can problem-solve, but education creates people who depend on others to tell them the solution. Industry needs people who are aligned to their missions and values, but education creates people who don’t know themselves or their ambitions. Industry needs people who can work collaboratively, but education creates people who don’t know how to positively handle conflict.

It is not enough for secondary schools to prepare students for a college education. College must be purposeful, but if students are not engaged with industry at the middle and high school levels, they will go to college, without an industry-aligned direction and finding appropriate employment will be difficult.

Industry must be infused inside of the curriculum and classroom of our schools. The Learn to Start Marketplace bridges industry directly into each student’s entire journey of development.

Through the LTS Mentor Series, industry professionals share their stories, provide their expertise, and offer their philosophical outlooks based on their years of experience in a specific field.

Through the LTS Story in Motion podcast, industry professionals from different backgrounds share their answers to the program questions: Who am I? and Why it matters?

Through the LTS Spotlight competition, students present their projects and startups to a group of selected industry professionals in order to earn their dedicated mentorship as they enter the market.

Through the LTS Immersion program, organizations share their market challenges with LTS students so they can experience the reality of market-based problem solving while leveraging their personal development in the areas of  Mentorship, Relationship, Story, and Failure.

Through the LTS Pathways Database, students from Middle School and up have access to an entire database of industry-demanded jobs and credentials supplied directly from a global market of LTS Industry partners.

This is how industry gets infused in education: in a way that makes each classroom individually differentiated and creates aligned, problem-solvers ready to add value to the marketplace. How would you have used the LTS Marketplace to your advantage when you were in school?
