Alumni Spotlight – Dylan Grodner

Learn to Start is proud to be working with the next generation of lower, middle, and high school students in reimagining what the 21st-century education system should look like. Hear from one of LTS’s incredible alumni, Dylan Grodner, as he answers Learn to Start’s 3 essential questions and shares how LTS has impacted his personal and professional life since graduating from the program.

Who are you?

Hi, my name is Dylan Grodner and I am an entrepreneur.

What can you do?

I am adept at developing business plans and capitalizing on business opportunities.

How do you prove it?

In Learn To Start, I’ve created a portfolio of my various startups and projects, providing a look at my growth as an entrepreneur and as a person in my four years of being in the course, highlighting my sports media company, Swish Tribune and my nonprofit organization, LightSaver.

Confidence

How has being in Learn To Start impacted your confidence as a person? Learn to Start has impacted my confidence as I have been able to take risks without feeling punished. In many ways, this has allowed me to thrive and feel more confident in my abilities as a leader and as a person. Since starting Learn To Start in my freshman year of high school, I have started multiple companies and have made many connections. By starting these companies, I’ve developed many skills that have allowed me to become a more confident person.

Ability to Network

What was your knowledge of networking before LTS vs after? How has LTS impacted your ability to network? When I started LTS, I had no idea what networking was. Today, I consider networking to be one of the most important parts of my life. As an entrepreneurship major, I am always looking to form new connections that may be helpful later in life. After four years of taking LTS, I have formed many great connections with my peers as well as mentors who have helped guide me throughout my LTS journey.

Risk-taking

What was your experience with risk-taking before LTS vs after? How has LTS impacted your ability to take risks? With LTS being a pass-fail class, I have been much more open to taking risks. By taking these risks, it has allowed me to step outside of my comfort zone in many ways, whether it be public speaking, or just trying something new, even if I fail. I have learned from my failures, rather than let them drag me down. I believe that failure is a crucial part of success because otherwise, we wouldn’t know what we did wrong and how to change that. LTS has truly allowed me to take more risks and achieve more.
